About Elinor Collective
The name means "shining light" — and I didn't pick it by accident. Every person who works with me is trying to see something more clearly: a decision that's been sitting in the dark for too long, turned over so many times it's lost its shape. My job is to be the person who helps you actually see it.
That's also where the map comes from. Somewhere in the world, someone right now is exactly where you might be — stuck on a decision, going over the same options for the hundredth time, no closer to an answer than you were last week.
The map you're looking at is a simple idea: every time someone finishes a session here and actually gets somewhere — a real answer, a plan they can act on, or even just the honest relief of knowing what to do next — that's marked as a small point of light. One person. One moment where something that felt dark and unresolved became clear. One small, steady light where there used to be nothing. That's not a metaphor I reach for lightly. It's the honest measure of what this work is actually for: not how many people I've talked to, but how many of them left able to see their own way forward.
Who's actually behind this
I'm Melissa. I trained as a social worker, and working to create real clarity and change for people, families, and communities is my life and my passion.
I know the need for this work personally, not just professionally. I've spent time in my own life feeling the particular frustration of not being understood — the sense that if someone would really hear what I meant, not just what I managed to say, things would be okay. I've also worked inside systems where the person the decision is actually about is discounted by the system, and they often end up discounting themselves right along with it. Sitting in that lack of control taught me how much it matters when someone finally hands you a real answer, not another round of process. That's where "I'll tell you what to do" really comes from — not a slogan, and not about control, but something I understood because I needed it myself and didn't always get it.
I'll also say this plainly, because it matters to how I actually work: I won't assume I know your situation better than you do just because I've seen something similar before, and I won't assume you're the same as the last person who sat across from me with a similar problem. Everyone's version of "stuck" is different, and I take the time to actually find your truth — not the assumed one.
Why this exists
Most people who feel stuck aren't missing information. They've usually already done the research, talked to everyone they trust, made the lists. What they're missing is someone with the judgment to actually look at their situation and say, plainly, what they think should happen next.
That's a strange gap in how help is usually offered. Life coaches will talk to you about your goals, but most aren't trained to notice when something's actually a clinical issue wearing a decision's clothing. Therapists have that training, but their whole discipline is built around helping you find your own answer — not handing you one. I built the Elinor Collective to sit in the space between those two: enough clinical judgment to know the difference, and the willingness to give you the first steps to get through.
A few things worth knowing before you book:
This isn't therapy, and it won't try to be. If what you bring me turns out to need a therapist, a GP, or someone else entirely, I'll tell you that directly — and I'd rather do that than stretch what I offer to fit something it shouldn't. That's not a failure of the session. It's the whole point of it.
I'm also not going to give you a longer, softer version of an answer I've already reached. If I think you should take the job, leave the relationship, or wait three more months, I'll say so — along with why, and what I'd do first.
If you're stuck on something and tired of sitting in the dark, that's exactly what this is for.
